The Memphis Bar Association, through its Legal Fee Dispute Committee, provides an informal and free way to resolve fee disputes between clients and attorneys. The procedure is as follows: a client files a complaint with the Memphis Bar Association and agrees to arbitrate the fee dispute. The attorney is then notified and if he/she agrees to arbitrate the fee dispute, it is set for hearing before a 3-attorney panel. The client does not need to be, but may be represented, by an attorney at the hearing. At the conclusion of the hearing, the panel renders a decision which is binding on the client and the attorney.

Established in 1982, the Memphis Bar Foundation is the philanthropic arm of the Memphis Bar Association.
