On Wednesday, February 20, 2019, the Young Lawyers Division of the Memphis Bar Association held the finals to its annual High School Mock Trial Tournament.   20 teams of high school students competed this year in a week and a half long competition, which determines which two teams get the opportunity to represent Shelby County at the statewide competition in Nashville.

The Honorable Judge Mark Norris presided over the finals, with Peter Gee of Morgan and Morgan and Lucie Brackin of the Landers Firm also serving as judges.   In the end, St. Mary’s Episcopal School was declared champion of the tournament, with Westminster Academy being the runner up.   Both teams will get the opportunity to represent Shelby County in the State Competition next month.

The YLD thanks everyone who volunteered their time to judge a round, as well as the wonderful judges who allowed the students to utilize their courtrooms throughout the competition.  This competition could not have happened without the gracious support from the Memphis Bar community.
