SATURDAY LEGAL CLINIC

sponsored by the ACCESS TO JUSTICE COMMITTEE

Do you, a loved one or a friend have a legal question or
problem you want to ask an attorney?

Would it help you if you could get some advice about
what you can do about a legal issue?

Do you need a living will or power of attorney to make sure
you or your loved one receives the right health care if disabled?

If so, you may have the chance to talk to an attorney to get some answers!  Volunteer attorneys and paralegals from the Access to Justice Committee will be at the following locations on the Saturdays listed from 9 am to noon.  The attorneys will see individuals on a first come, first served basis, so you are encouraged to come early. The clinic will stop taking new clients at 11:45 a.m., so arrive before then to ensure sufficient time to discuss your legal problem.

If you just have a legal question you want answered or you need some quick advice, the attorneys and paralegals will talk to you. This does not mean the attorneys will represent you in court or take your case.  They may only be able to spend 10-15 minutes with each person.  We will ask you to complete a form providing us with information so we can decide what, if any, referral will be made and what types of problems members of the community are having so we can be sure to have the right type of attorneys and information available for you.  NO ONE WILL BE TURNED AWAY REGARDLESS OF INCOME.

Initiated in October 2007, the Saturday Legal Clinic is a project of the Access to Justice Committee, a collaborative effort of the Memphis Bar Association, Memphis Area Legal Services, the Community Legal Center, and other nonprofit organizations providing legal services to those in need. The clinics are held once a month at various locations throughout the city.
