Mentors may describe their current position, past positions and areas of expertise and discuss the future of health law. Mentees likely will have specific questions about hot areas in health law, job forecasts and other related topics of interest. Attorneys interested in serving as mentors please email Kathy Steuer at email@example.com to confirm your participation. PLEASE ENCOURAGE JUNIOR ATTORNEYS IN YOUR PRACTICE TO ATTEND! Wine and hors d'oeuvres will be provided courtesy of Bank Tennesee.
Collaboration, Consolidation, and Collusion: Crucial Antitrust Concerns for the Healthcare Industry - October 24
Presented by Bass, Berry & Sims PLC
The Health Law Section will sponsor a 2 hour general credit CLE focusing on antitrust concerns in healthcare industry on Thursday, October 24, 2013, from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at the MBA offices located at 80 Monroe Avenue, Suite 220. Registration will begin at 2:45 p.m. Participants in the healthcare industry face increased risk that their activities will run afoul of the antitrust laws. Since 2009, enforcers at the state and federal levels have significantly ramped up their efforts to police anticompetitive conduct. Joint contracting by providers with payers is an area of intense enforcement focus. Clinical integration or formation of Accountable Care Organizations by providers must be carefully structured to avoid antitrust trouble. Hospital acquisitions of physician practices, mergers among physician practices, and providers consolidating with other types of providers, now involve great antitrust risk if they might lead to the exercise of market power. Now more than ever, the healthcare industry must recognize, heed, and prepare for the challenges of heightened antitrust exposure. Register for this CLE through the Memphis Bar Association by phone 901.260.3275 or online at www.memphisbar.org.
Government Perspective on Current Trends in Health Care Fraud on November 13 from 9:45 to 11:45 at the University of Memphis School of Law. Register for this CLE through the Memphis Bar Association by phone 901.260.3275 or online at www.memphisbar.org. This presentation is free to attend if no CLE credit is needed.
