Message from the Chair


Welcome to the Memphis Bar Association Health Law Section website. The Section is now in its second year after a very successful inaugural year thanks to you and the Section’s leadership! If you haven’t already done so, please take a moment and join or renew your membership in the Section to ensure that you will receive all of the latest news and information regarding upcoming Newsletters, CLE programs and social events – all for just $15 per year. If you have questions, or if you have any suggestions for how to improve our Section or this website, please feel free to contact me at You also may contact the Section’s website coordinator directly at regarding content on this website. Also, please be sure to connect with the Section’s Facebook page and LinkedIn accounts (see links below). Thank you for supporting the Health Law Section!

Annual Dues/How to Join

Membership in the Health Law Section is open to all MBA members in good standing. Section dues are $15 annually. The Section is free to law students and attorneys in their first year of practice. To join this section, check the appropriate box on the membership application/dues statement and send with a check (made payable to the MBA) or credit card (Visa or MasterCard only) information.

Upcoming Activities

PLEASE MARK YOUR CALENDARS FOR THURSDAY, MAY 1, 2014 AT 4:00 P.M. THE HEALTH LAW SECTION IS SPONSORING A CLE PROGRAM IN CONJUNCTION WITH THE PEABODY HOTEL ROOFTOP PARTY! The program, “Health Reform Goes Live – Issues and Ramifications,” will be held from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. and immediately following the program, all paid registrants will receive free entrance into the Peabody Rooftop Party and one free drink.  Philip Johnson, Employee Benefits Practice Leader at Regions Insurance Group, and Dick Cowart, Chair of the Health and Public Policy Department at Baker Donelson, will review ongoing activities regarding the Affordable Care Act, issues regarding the implementation of, and many other issues affecting employers, health care providers and organizations, insurers/payors, and patients.
