WEEK 1 — PROMOTE
Thursday, October 4 — Pro Bono Training
Join us in promoting not only pro bono resources to the general public but also pro bono volunteer opportunities to the legal community.
On October 4, Manassas High School football Coach Bill Courtney from the Oscar-winning documentary "Undefeated" will deliver a few inspirational words to members of the Memphis legal community prior to a pro bono training seminar at the University of Memphis School of Law. Memphis Mayor A C Wharton will also be on hand to deliver a Pro Bono Month Proclamation on behalf of the city. The pro bono training seminar will consist of several break-out sessions that will train attendees on how to handle many different types of pro bono cases. The seminar will offer pro bono volunteers 3 hours of FREE CLE credit ($50 for non-volunteers). See the schedule of events below and click here to register now. Law students are encouraged to attend and should RSVP to Callie Caldwell at firstname.lastname@example.org by Monday, October 1st.

WEEK 2 — PROVIDE
Saturday, October 13 — Legal Clinic
Here's your chance to get involved and start providing pro bono assistance to those in need in our community.
The monthly Saturday Legal Clinic at the main library (3030 Poplar Avenue, 3rd floor) will be held from 10 am to noon on Saturday, October 13th. If you have never volunteered at a clinic before, now's the time to get involved. There will be plenty of seasoned volunteers on hand to lead the way. So grab a colleague or two and come to the library that morning. For more information or to let us know you plan to volunteer, contact Linda Warren Seely at email@example.com or 901.523.8822 or MBA Executive Director Anne Fritz at firstname.lastname@example.org or 901.527.3573. Please note that Saturday's clinic will be held on the 3rd floor of the library (instead of the meeting rooms on the 1st floor) due to repair work on the library’s windows.
And, if you missed the pro bono training seminar on October 4th but would like a refresher before you volunteer, you can watch the training seminar, "How To Do Good When You Don't Have a Clue", from the convenience of your home or office at a time that works best for you. Just click here.
There will be additional volunteer opportunities throughout the month, including the weekly Courthouse Advice & Counsel Clinic every Thursday afternoon at the Shelby County Courthouse. For more details contact Linda Warren Seely at email@example.com or 901.523.8822.

WEEK 4 — Celebrate PRO BONO
Thursday, October 25 — Strut! Memphis
Celebrate pro bono at the Community Legal Center's second annual fun and fashionable Strut! Memphis fundraiser.
Mark your calendar for STRUT! Memphis on Thursday, October 25, 2012, at Mercedes-Benz of Memphis to benefit The Community Legal Center (CLC). At last year’s event, the inaugural year of STRUT! Memphis, 300 business and community leaders hobnobbed while enjoying the latest in celebrity style and fashion. Some even snagged a really great purchase at auction—like a trip to New York for fashion week. This year's celebrity bartenders will include Mayor A.C. Wharton, Jr., Mayor Mark Luttrell, Congressman Steve Cohen, U.S. Attorney Ed Stanton III, WMC-TV's Kontji Anthony and Joe Birch, John Bryant, Leslie Ballin, Memphis Flyer editor Bruce VanWyngarden, and Wrestling Great Jerry “The King” Lawler.
Tickets are available and can be purchased through any CLC board member. Tickets are $50, but if purchased in advance, the board is offering a $10 per ticket discount so you may obtain tickets until the day of the event for $40. Tickets may also be purchased on the CLC website, www.clcmemphis.com, by Pay Pal or credit card, at The Booksellers of Laurelwood, or at the CLC main office (910 Vance Ave. in the MIFA building).
Changing lives and strengthening the community is a good look for you and your organization! Be a STRUT! Memphis sponsor. Call the CLC at 543-3395 for more information.
