Law Week Launch Party
5-7 pm – Due to rainy weather, this event will be inside Lincoln-American Tower on the first floor instead of Court Square.
Law Week 2011 will get rolling Thursday, April 21st with the 4th Annual Law Week Launch Party at Lincoln-American Tower, located just off Court Square on Mani. The party will be held from 5-7 pm and attendees will enjoy free drinks including wine and Bosco's beer, food by Just for Lunch and music by the Paul Taylor Jazz Trio. All members of the Memphis legal community are invited and attendees are encouraged to bring a canned good for the Mid-South Food Bank to the event. Click here to see the official party flyer. 


Volunteer Day at the Mid-South Food Bank
9:30 am - 3:30 pm – Food Bank Sorting Warehouse
Members of the MBA are asked to sort canned and packaged foods at the Food Bank’s sorting warehouse. If you are interested in volunteering at the Food Bank on April 25, please contact Mary Lynes at or 901.527.3573.


Annual Memorial Service
12:00 pm – Calvary Episcopal Church, downtown Memphis
This service honors lawyers and judges who died during the past year. Click here to see a list of those to be honored.

Happy Hour: 5:30 - 7:30 pm on Felicia Suzanne's patio
The Young Lawyers Division will present "Law Practice Management for All Lawyers: Become the Ethical, Efficient Lawyer Your Mother Always Thought Would Be" with Larry Rice from 4:30-5:30 pm at the MBA office. The seminar will be followed by a Happy Hour on the patio of Felicia Suzanne's on the first floor of Brinkley Plaza (80 Monroe Ave). All members of the MBA are invited to attend. The Happy Hour is sponsored by the MBA Access to Justice Committee and all attorneys who do pro bono work or are interested in becoming a volunteer are encouraged to attend. Naturalization Ceremony 
10:00 am – The Cannon Center 
co-sponsored by the U.S. District Court, Western District of Tennessee
Hundreds of new citizens will be sworn in during this ceremony. Volunteers are needed to hand out programs and American flags to the new citizens. If you are interested in assisting with the ceremony, please contact Dottie McCallen at


Law Week in Memphis is held annually in conjunction with the nationally recognized Law Day on May 1. Law Day is an opportunity for all Americans to celebrate our legal system, a critical aspect of our democratic form of government. Across the country, Americans participate in thousands of activities to deepen our understanding of the role of law in our society. Memphis is no different. Each year the legal community in the Memphis area plans Law Week programs designed to educate our community about the law, legal processes, and legal rights.
